IKEA provides a lot of information on the homepage. I find this extremely helpful. Prices and names are right in front of you, and they've got dimensions of all kinds to help you determine what furniture will work for your space prior to you purchase. They also explain clearly the construction and materials which is a nice feature. They make use of a mix of solid wood, plywood and particleboard in many of their frames which helps reduce costs while maintaining the strength. They also specify if the cushion filling is foam or feathers which can impact the level of firmness a sofa has. I wish they'd go a little more in the direction of a breakdown of how the individual components are made but they do a decent job overall.
2. World Market Brynn Feather Filled Loveseat
World Market's online presence gives an international bazaar vibe that can be a bit overwhelming. There's a lot to process with regard to visual stimulation and information, particularly when you're trying to find a new couch.
Fortunately the website lets you zoom in on furniture by having a dedicated "Furniture" section in the top navigation bar that directs you to couches. You can then filter by color, style, and upholstery material.
Many World Market sofas feature performance fabrics that are stain resistant, which is a major benefit for those with children or pets. The company provides a wide selection of cushion comforts, including foam vs. fibrefill.
Keep in mind that most World Market couches require assembly. This can be a good or bad thing, based on your level of skill. The website of the brand shows the sofas from various angles, as well as close-ups on details such as the stitching and legs. The website also doesn't hold back in displaying the delivery time, and lets you know the length of time the sofa will be on the move before it arrives at your door. It's also budget friendly. If you decide to buy cushions without foam cores, keep in mind that they could sag over time. Morse suggests choosing a cushion that has feathers or fiber wrapped around a foam core.
Pro feather/feather stuffings feel soft, luxurious and offer the sensation of a soft touch. They also breathe and regulate temperature. Cons - They're expensive and cause allergic reactions for some people. Additionally, they may have to be fluffed frequently to maintain their shape.
4. Maxwell Ryan Co-Created Loveseat
A sofa is the place where you spend the majority of your time watching Netflix and chilling. It is often one of the more expensive furniture pieces in your home. It's worth it to invest in a sofa that you love and can afford.
Burrow, founded by Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Ryan with support from the prestigious accelerator Y Combinator aims to become the Ikea of sofas that fold. The company offers three different versions of the sofa (a loveseat one, a chair and a sectional). The design is similar to traditional European styles, but also more modern and minimalist due to the slimmer frame rails.
The main selling point is that it folds flat to store. But the true game changer is that, unlike most furniture that folds, this one can be put together by a single person with no tools in around 20 minutes. The goal of the company is that when you purchase a Burrow couch, you can be sure it will fit your space and last 10 or 20 years. It's a significant improvement from the disposable Ikea model.
5. Goop Sofa
Gwyneth Paltrow may be most well-known for her highly sought-after sunscreen and bone broth, but her contemporary lifestyle brand goop is expanding its horizons with an impressive furniture collection. Goop, the collection of the actor with CB2 is a collection of kitchenware and furniture that fuses the sophisticated aesthetic found in Paltrow's home, which is sleek and modern, with the North American retailer's millennial-focused approach to design.
The collection, which was launched on the Goop website today, features a range of affordable and stylish sofas and loveseats. The goop sofa is one of the most striking pieces.
